Every day an Emirates Boeing 777 lands in Accra at midday from Dubai, hops on to Abidjan and comes back in the afternoon to fly overnight to Dubai. Since July 2026 four extra flights a week have been added. For Ghanaians, Dubai is a shopping destination, a business hub, a door to China and India, and the main transfer point for Umrah and Hajj. Emirates began in 1985 with two leased aircraft and a budget of ten million dollars from the Dubai government. Forty years later it is one of the largest international airlines in the world and the biggest operator of both the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 777. Its model is simple: put Dubai in the middle of everything. That is exactly why it matters for Accra. Through Dubai, Ghana is one change away from almost any city in Asia, the Gulf or Australia.

The overnight flight from Accra lands in Dubai early in the morning, when the big wave of Emirates departures to Asia and Australia leaves. These are the countries Ghanaian travellers use it for most, with their capitals.
The daily Emirates flight lands in Accra around 11:20, early enough for a full first afternoon. Visitors from Asia, the Gulf and Australia arrive this way. Start with Accra, then go west to the castles at Cape Coast and Elmina and the canopy walk at Kakum.
