Accra and Lagos are only an hour apart by air, yet they feel like two different worlds: one calm and slow, the other loud, fast and enormous. Air Peace, Nigeria's largest airline, flies between them most days, and uses Accra as a stepping stone on its West African routes to Monrovia and Freetown. Here is what flies, when, and what you should know before you book.
Air Peace was founded in 2013 by the Nigerian lawyer and businessman Allen Onyema and flew its first service in October 2014. In little more than a decade it has grown into Nigeria's largest airline, with domestic flights to almost every Nigerian city, a West and Central African network, and long-haul flights from Lagos to London. It became famous across Africa in 2019, when it flew hundreds of Nigerians home from South Africa free of charge during the xenophobic attacks there.

Lagos is one hour ahead of Accra all year. That is why a flight leaving Lagos at 08:00 lands in Accra at 08:05. Monrovia and Freetown are on the same time as Ghana.

English is the official language, but on the street Lagos speaks Pidgin and Yoruba, and you will hear Igbo and Hausa everywhere.

Air Peace's West African routes stop in Accra on the way west, so you can fly Accra–Monrovia and Accra–Freetown directly. Ghanaians need no visa for either country.
Air Peace brings Nigerians to Accra in the early morning, and many come for a short break from Lagos: Accra's beaches, the castles of Cape Coast and Elmina, and the calmer pace. Nigerians, like all ECOWAS citizens, need no visa for Ghana.
